How would you like to get an Apple iPhone 3GS 32GB for just SGD$7.75?

And the phone is totally new, no manufacturer defect, comes with local warranty and ready to use upon inserting your SIM Card?

You are not reading it wrong, you just need to pay $7.75 and the phone is even delivered free to your door step!

Not your cup of tea? How about:

- Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX5V Camera for just S$27.20

- Nintendo Wii for just S$8.55

- Tiffany & Co. Open Heart Necklace for S$43.35 (for the Ladies)

As mentioned, these items are all new! The savings you can expect is easily more than 50% discount off the usual retail price.

If you are getting excited of what I am about to share and you do not need me to go through the details, then you should click over to:

>> GleeBid

>> Sold.sg

How Do These Local Auction Sites Work?

Apparently both sites run on the same software script (which I have no idea, if you are keen to start your own, but if you do know, this can be a lucrative business opportunity).

Signing up for an account is free! And no strings attached. To make you sign up fast, you will get 10 bids free from GleeBid and if I can remember correctly 5 bids free from Sold.sg.

Things To Note For The Given Free Bids

For Sold.sg

If you are a slow learner, you do have to take note that the bids given by Sold.sg has an expiry date of 1 week upon activating your account. If you do not use it, you will see these Bids being deleted from your account (that’s my case).

So if you see something that you like and near to it’s Ending Soon period, start bidding for it. You may just be lucky enough to get it. Else you have to spend money on getting a token package from them.

For GleeBid

Though the Company has no stated that there’s a expiry date for them yet, it may just be imposed soon.

>> Remember To Check Out GleeBid & Sold.sg

When It’s Time To Start Bidding

If you are used to the eBay style of bidding where you can start setting up a high bid price and scared off those who do not dare to out-bid you, this is not the case for both Auction Sites.

Basically they work on the basis on incremental bids (e.g. price will increase by $0.02 each time for one particular auction whereas the other may increase by $0.15 each time).

And the difference between both sites is that the incremental bid for Sold.sg is tentatively higher as compared to GleeBid. But there’s a good and bad side – you may end up paying slightly more for the item but you get to end the Auction earlier (and rest earlier). So depending on your lifestyle, both Auction Sites will get to serve you well.

Then there’s the countdown timer that will get your heart pumping especially as it reaches towards the End where you will see a sudden pause on the site – then the price jumped up by a significant amount and the time delayed by few more seconds. You may have to take note that you should not bid at the 0.01 second remaining as the server may not capture your bid and you lose to your competitor.

>> Remember To Check Out GleeBid & Sold.sg

Any strategy to outbid the rest?

My suggestion is to know who you are up against. Most of the bidders are using the Automatic Bidding system and they will end the moment the amount of tokens run out. This is the time where you can take advantage. Do take note of those hidden bidders who will sneak up upon you as well.

Practice makes perfect but at the cost of buying Tokens…

>> Remember To Check Out GleeBid & Sold.sg

The Cost Of Buying Tokens

The cost of a Token is at $0.75 for Sold.sg and $0.50 for GleeBid and you have to buy these Tokens in a package, minimum is 20 tokens for Sold.sg and 30 tokens for GleeBid.

And just a word of caution, do not spend too much money on these auctions and ended up disrupting your daily lifestyle!

These information should be enough for you to get started on both sites, but if you need to have more information, both sites have a good and thorough FAQ section and I believe it will answer any of your queries!

Have fun bidding for your favorite items and I am off to out-bid for a iPhone 4 32GB!

>> Remember To Check Out GleeBid & Sold.sg Today!

Do you agree that your emails are very important? If one fine day, I should tell you that you will get to have no access to these emails anymore… how will you feel? Miserable?

And should I tell you that to get these emails back you may to spend around US$49.90 or spend your time downloading a big file of 500Mb application file – will you be pissed off?

If you are nodding your head away and you also happen to be using Microsoft Outlook, then you may want to pay attention to what I have to say about backing up your precious emails with it especially if you do not wish to spend US$50 or time to download…

What Happened When Dexter Did His Backup Of Emails On His Microsoft Outlook?

I was using Microsoft Outlook in the office and have decided to do a backup of these emails. These emails contained a lot of important personal information. After which, I would like to transfer these to my Outlook Express / Mozilla Thunderbird in my home computer.

And the wonderful thing about the whole event will be that I will not have access to Microsoft Outlook after the backing up. I thought the Import function on both software will serve me well enough. I did not check on the Internet if this will pose any serious issue in the future.

The backup file created by Microsoft Outlook is a .PST file.

The Agony Of Importing The .PST File To Outlook Express, Mozilla Thunderbird and Gmail

The agony started when I decided to import this .PST file to my home computer. I do not have a copy of Microsoft Outlook as well. I only have Windows Mail (also known as Outlook Express) in Windows Vista and Mozilla Thunderbird.

Guess what…

The Import Function existed on both softwares will only work when there’s a copy of Microsoft Outlook installed as well.

Gmail does not allow you to import any files and will only allow when you have done up a direct upload to it using one of the functions within Microsoft Outlook.

Fine… I will find a solution online then…

The Search For A Solution Online

The search began with a few sites telling me that this .PST file extension is one way that Microsoft uses to protect their products. I should have known this earlier!

There are a few free solutions provided – to download a ThunderBird Plugin and a Gmail Uploader. These solutions existed back in 2007 and 2008.

Just when there’s a glimpse of hope there and there. At the end of downloading and installing, both solutions can not work at all because they are all outdated.

The only free solution available is that I have to download the latest Trial Version of Office 2010 which is at 585MB. And there’s no direct download from Microsoft and I have to get it from an external site. Was I successful? Nope. The downloading failed me a few times that I decided to give up!

Paid solutions? Okay… There are two that will work – PST Walker and Recovery Toolbox. And they allow you to download a trial copy only to tease you with their working functions – first 5 – 10 emails being readable and to get the rest, you have to buy at around US$50.

My Agony Will Be Your Precious Lesson

This is a painful experience for me. And there’s indeed a proper way of converting your backup on Microsoft Outlook so that it will be compatible with Outlook Express so if you are doing it, please learn how to do so by doing a proper search online.

If you are currently using HTC Hero and from Singapore, this guide would actually show you how to upgrade to Android 2.1 without waiting for the Over-The-Air update.

Disclaimer: There’s some risks involved in doing this upgrade like you will lose the settings to your HTC Sense layout (which I have experienced) or Datas (it’s over the internet but I did not experience that).

So if you feel that you are not able to go through such risks, then I would suggest that you go through the proper update. If this is fine with you (and agree that I should not be blamed), then you should continue reading on…

How To Upgrade To Android 2.1 For Your HTC Hero

First Step: Back Up Your Data And SMS

1. You would need to download this application from the MarketPlace – “SMS Backup & Restore” by Ritesh Sahu. Installing this application would help you to back up all your SMSes to your SD Card. (Credit – Ritesh Sahu)

2. Backing up all your Applications would require two steps.

a) A Normal sync to your PC using the HTC Sync Program. Do make sure that you have the latest Sync Version – 2.0.33

If not, please kindly download the latest version from HTC website.

This will sync all your contacts/calender to your PC.

b) Backing Up Your SD Card.

By default, when you activate the USB connection on your HTC Hero, your PC will link up your phone like a USB disk drive – allowing you access to the SD Card directly. But to play safe, I would suggest that you unmount your SD Card by going to Settings >> SD & Phone Storage >> Unmount SD card. Then proceed on to remove your SD Card and insert into the adapter that came along with it.

Then insert this adapter into your PC. And copy the whole chunk of information (this will include your SMSes back-up as well) from the SD Card into one of your Folder.

3. Download These Two ZIP files

Now’s the exciting part. Head over to this site >> Android @ MoDaCo and download the two zip files provided by Zane Lee.

Choose the files with the URL http://liveimage….

Once you are done with the downloading, it’s time to get dirty! For the first update file (file size is around 4MB), change the file name to “update.zip”. The second file can be left as per it is. Do check that these two files are not corrupted by clicking open the ZIP files. If they can be be opened and your PC did not prompt any error messages – you are good to go!

Remember your SD Card with the Adapter on your PC? Okay, copy these two files into it. Not inside any folders. Just as per it is.

Finished? Put the SD Card back into your phone. It’s time!

4. Getting The Firmware Upgrade

If you want to play safe. Connect your phone with the PC and activate the USB connection. And within the screen you will be able to see the two ZIP files there. You can click open these files to make sure that they are not corrupted.

Remember to turn on your WIFI, make sure that you have enough battery juice and then proceed on to OFF your phone.

Then turn on your phone by pressing the “Home button” and the “Power On” button together. And you will be brought to the Recovery Mode. If the screen hangs a bit, just press the two buttons again.

And you will be shown a screen with 3 options:

Reboot the System

Apply sdcard:update.zip

Wipe out the system and return to Factory default mode

Choose option 2 with the TrackBall!

This will bring up the Firmware Upgrade Mode and the system will get to work to process the first file. Be patient with this process as it may seemed that the screen hanged but everything is still going well.

5. Getting The Android 2.1 Upgrade

After enduring through this process, your phone will be powered up. And you will be prompted to upgrade your phone to the Android 2.1 platform. Just agree and let the phone download a file and it will proceed to verify the file after it’s downloaded.

Your phone will then proceed to do the upgrade and you will be shown a screen with an orange status bar. I must let you know that this will be quite a wait and a test of your patience as at one juncture, the status bar stopped moving till like 10-15 mins later.

6. Your HTC Hero with Android 2.1

The system will power up and down. Blanked and On a few times. And you will be shown a new startup screen -the HTC Logo with the words Quietly Brillant… Your phone may even prompt there’s a need to do a Force-Close when it’s up and running (just agree).

Your phone is officially upgraded to Android 2.1 when you are able to do a screen pitch – a new function for your phone.

To all Book Lovers, here’s a personal post of how you can get a good deal out of buying books from:

- Major Bookstores like Borders, Kinokuniya,

- Online stores like Opentrolley.com.sg, Acmamall.com, Amazon.com, BookDepository.co.uk

- Events like MPH Book Sale & Borders Book Sale (check from Singapore Expo website)

I have done my research after visiting these sites and places and here’s a brief summary of how to get a good deal when you have the crave to read fiction books and selected non-fiction books like on Business, Marketing, Personal Development, Recipe!

Major Bookstores Like Borders & Kinokuniya

Two of the largest bookstores and biggest collections of books in Singapore, offers Membership and they gave occasional discounts on books from 20% to 35%.

Should You Get The Membership?

For Borders. The price for their books are usually 10% more than Kinokuniya’s. Therefore paying for the membership just to enjoy the 10% off is really like slapping yourself. But if you do eat from the restaurant over at WheelLock’s, you will get 10% off the bill (that’s removing the service charge) thus this deal of getting their membership is sweetened up a bit.

But… If you are a frequent buyer of books in quantities like 3 -4 at a time, then I would still say to go for it because of the frequent discounts given – up to 35% (+10% from the membership). Read more below.

For Kinokuniya. I would safely say that their price is one of the lowest or competitive among all the major bookstores in Singapore. And they have some books and magazine titles from Japan and Hong Kong that Borders do not carry.

Therefore if you like the Ambience, The Other Titles, and do not mind the lack of frequent discount, then I would suggest you to get the Membership.

My Verdict: Get The Border’s Membership. This is because of the many Discounts that Borders give.

How About The Discounts?

For Borders. Get the Discounts send to you through Email. And you can signup from this site. Sample Discount:

For Kinokuniya. You have to check out the newspaper and cut out the coupons to enjoy.

I would strongly recommend you to go for the Borders’ as their discounts are more frequent as compared to Kinokuniya’s. And in terms of discount value, Borders would usually offer more.

My Verdict: Signup For The Borders’ Discount.

Online stores like Acmamall.com, Opentrolley.com.sg, Amazon.com, BookDepository.co.uk

In comparison, Online Book stores have a lower price on books as compared to Major Bookstores. They also offer certain books that are not offered in Major Bookstores.

Only factor that you need to consider this option is that you have to wait for the book to arrive (could be up to a week).

So if you do not mind this, then you should consider shopping from this option. And in today’s time and technology, it’s safe to make your credit card purchase from these online stores.

So Who Give The Most Discounts? The Ranking & The Pros and Cons…

1. Amazon.com

Amazon.com gives the most discount for the same titles under this three online stores. There are more titles offered as compared to the other two. But only issue that’s stopping most Singaporeans from shopping there is the Delivery Charges.

How most people minimize the Delivery Charges is through Sprees (buying in bulk through a collection of different orders) and you can easily get into an Amazon.com spree just by doing a search online.

2. BookDepository.co.uk

After a recent positive experience with them, this site actually offers the next lower price after Amazon.com (also because of the current exchange rate) and another plus point is that they offer free delivery worldwide (you save on the delivery charge)!

But only thing to note is that they may not have that comprehensive collection as compared to Amazon.com.

3. Acmamall.com & OpenTrolley.com.sg

If there’s no Amazon.com and BookDepository.co.uk, then I would safely say that this two online bookstore has the best price as compared to all the bookstores in Singapore. But too bad… there’s the existence of the above two sites.

Each site offers their own perks and promotions (e.g. Limited Period Free Delivery, Credit Card Promotion, Get Discount with Minimum Buy, etc). But all in all, the price difference between the two sites is small.

My Verdict: If you are not into Sprees and buying one or two books at a time, then I would say to go for BookDepository.co.uk followed by Opentrolley.com.sg or Acmamall.com. Because of the Delivery Charges to Singapore, Amazon.com’s prices actually made the prices much more higher as compared to the rest.

Events Like MPH & Borders Book Sale

These events are usually held like twice a year in Singapore Expos. And if you want really good price, good deals and you like Treasure Hunting then I would suggest you to go for these events.

And what I mean from Treasure Hunting is that you do not really know the Titles offered. But at times, you can find Gems or even just Chicken Bones.

If you have time to go for one event, then I would suggest that you go for the MPH Book Sale. Reason: Books are usually offered around $8 and if you are expecting that these titles are from those ancient times, you will be glad this is not the case. You may be even surprised that very new titles that usually cost around $30 – $40 per book is only at $8.

This price even beats those major bookstores and online bookstores!

My experience with Borders Book Sale is that they only offer 15-20% off those usual titles. So may not be that attractive and worth going at all.

My Verdict: Go For MPH Book Sale! And there’s one coming up – June 25 to June 27. And for really good deals, go on the first day. There’s where all the Gems can be located before the Saturday crowd!

So What You Should Know In Getting Good Deals For Books:

For Major Bookstores – go for Borders and signup for their Discount emails.

For Online Bookstores – go for BookDepository.co.uk

For Sales Event – check out Singapore Expo website and go for the MPH Book Sale.

Welcome to the Month Of May! Time is really flying past fast! You and I will be seeing half a year gone by in less than 30 days! Here’s what I have been doing for the past 30 days

The Month Of April…

1. Games! Games! Games! I have been playing games for the month of April – a bit non-productive but I see it as a way to work the brain a little >> working out strategies, beating against time and sensing a feeling of Achievement (that will brighten you up if your day has been down…). And the Game Company (Big Fish Games) has allowed me to run a Game Portal over at this site and you can access it over at this link – Dexter’s Big Fish Games Portal

Over at this Game Portal, you can download the game to your system and play for an Hour and if the game really interests you, you can get it at an easily affordable price tag. You’re welcome to drop comments for the games and we can hook up in helping each other in getting past the games!

2. I have resigned from the post of a Salaried Insurance Consultant after 2 years of service with them. This 2 years of experiences have been tremendously good as I get to learn the insides and outsides of the operation of a Insurance Company – the claims experience, the woes and happiness of customers, the harsh reality of a sales career and much more… I guess it’s time to move on! Updates of my next venture shall be updated here!

3. I Love Surveys! The Survey Company – GlobalTestMarket has been releasing quite a fair bit of surveys (a few per week). If you are not in, here’s a brief summary of GlobalTestMarket – you take part in surveys that will earn you marketpoints (range of 5 – 40 points) and once you hit 1000 points, you will be able to encash these points at the current rate of US$5 per 100 MarketPoints. And I have been able to cash out at least once per 3-4 months.

Now to the Proper Update Of My Resolutions:

1. Books. I am currently studying for my ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) First Module – Fundamentals Of Financial Planning and Investment (400 pages thick) therefore not able to squeeze in time for other pages.

2. Giving Back. Cash in another US$38 and with the 10% contribution, this will give me $3.80 and a total contribution set to date is at $16.94 + $3.80 = $20.74.

3. Financially. As mentioned above that I have resigned as a Salaried Insurance Consultant so pretty much that I am a Self-Employed Guy now. So let’s see if I am able to work some magic out of my blogs and sites.

4. Online Entrepreneurship. A Game Portal for this site. Reworking on the WordPress Theme Design and Blog Focus for my site after getting various comments from other Bloggers. Setting time to do up my eCommerce site. Busy is good!

5. Health. Going through my Remedial Training now and feeling the difference in terms of health, concentration and fitness level. Weight is slowly going down and this is a good sign!

Entrepreneurship Lesson Learned:

Just a simple one today and that is “If you have to let go, you have to let go, no matter how hard it is and you just have to continue to think big”

What this means is that if you are onto a venture and you have the feeling deep inside you that you just have to let it go, listen to that feeling and learn to let go even how hard it is. You have the greatest asset of thinking big and you just have to continue to think big and work even harder. The Results will be even be greater than before!

Have a Good Month In May!

Welcome to April 2010! 6 Days are gone and soon we will be finishing the first half of the year. So what have you done for yourself to make this year a good year?

An update to the previous post that I have made previously on the voucher issue from MySurveyAsia – apparently after the post was made, the voucher was received one week later. Hmmm… was that post read and worked on or that the people are simply taking their time to work on it? Before I can remove them from the Good Deal Gone Wrong category, I would be trying my luck to get them to send me another voucher.

Now to the proper update of my resolutions…

1. Managed to gun down two books related to sales – How To Mind Read Your Customers by David P. Snyder and The Four Kinds Of Sales People by Chuck Mache. The first book is about the four basic personality – D.I.S.C and should you have taken any personality test before, you will be quite clear of what the four characters are about. I am an I. How about you? Should you be interested in psychology and selling, this book is a mixed of both and you will enjoy reading it.

For the second book, the author shares about the four kind of person that does sale. True to certain extent of what it says about me and I have done cross-reference to the top sales producer in my insurance company and find them relatively accurate as well. So if you are doing sales and seemingly do not know where you are heading towards, pick up this book and know yourself well.

2. Giving Back. I have managed to cash in SGD$135 and another US$37. So using the 10% reference, I should be contributing SGD$13.50 (US$9.65) and US$3.70. So making a total of US$16.94. That’s an achievement, isn’t it?

3. Financially. The counting down has something to do with this section. I have decided to resign from my salary-based financial planning services and my next step is not decided as yet. It’s either commission-based with my present company, with a broker firm, totally out of this industry and/or going back to being a Real Estate Agent. Tough decisions to be made and I pray to God for a clear sign!

4. Online Entrepreneurship. There’s not much addition to my line of business but more of trying to improve on the current ones. I have decided that since none of my ventures are on auto-pilot as yet so it would be better for me to spend more time on each and make it better than ever. There’s no holding back now!

5. Health. Something for you to laugh about. Since I did not pass my IPPT, I am now down to my Remedial Training every Thursday and Sunday. I have done it last year – lost weight and became much more fitter. Hope to use this to achieve the same as last year.

Entrepreneurship Lesson Learned From A Story:

Just one lesson to all entrepreneurs especially those who are running party events, popcorn & candy floss machines rental and advertising via Google Adwords.

For those who do not know, Google Adwords work in the manner that you will have your advertisements in the form of Text Ads displayed in the top and right side of the Google Search Engine. And you will pay for the advertisement only when there’s a click by a visitor.

So the story is that my insurance company is intending to organize a two-day roadshow events and would like to rent a popcorn & candy floss machines and if the deal goes through, the fee is around $1,000. There are three good ads, I clicked and phoned one and got some quotes. But I would like to have a second opinion, so I phoned two other companies, called and guess what happened… the lines are diverted and re-directed many times and nobody picks up. I am even calling during office hours.

So guess who will be getting the deal. Yes, you are right – the first company which picks up the phone!

Therefore my advice to all the Entrepreneurs out there who have their contacts available, please always have someone be ready beside the contact.

For the rest of the month, have fun, improve yourself, plan well, work hard and to your success!

I have shared quite a few deal of sites that can let you take part in surveys and in exchange for your time and effort, you get to exchange these into vouchers or even cash. Most of these sites that I recommend are also free to join! Yup, you are reading it right!

Still My Recommended Sites That Can Let You Make You Money (Vouchers/Cash):

EmailCashPro – Singapore company that let you get paid to read emails

Survey Companies like GlobalTestMarket, YourSay, YourVoice – these are some of the companies that have paid me upon request.

These are some of the recommended sites that will let you earn some small money or vouchers for your time and effort on the internet.

Despite some of the good, there are still some sites that let you join for free, let you take part frequently in surveys (some lasting 20-30 mins each time) and a good redemption section but… you never get to see your vouchers at all… and one of such company is MySurveyAsia!

Here’s one of the recent redemption that I have done with MySurveyAsia on the 16 Feb 2010:

And I have chosen CapitaLand Voucher…

So after more than 2 weeks and still counting till today… guess what… there’s no vouchers in site!

And to add oil to fire… this is not my first redemption with MySurveyAsia! Not once did I get my vouchers!

Despite that this survey company is being taken over by a new management, a new look and frequent surveys for you to take part… but at end day, there’s no means for you to get your vouchers. So what’s the point?

Am I Missing Something Here?

As this is not a new company, and I believe you may be one of them who might have joined this company and have successfully redeemed your vouchers. Before I fully condemned this company, I hope you can give me some insights on how you are with the company and whether you are successful in your redemption.

If you are facing the same issues, you may wish to post your comments here.

Lastly, if there’s any guys who are working within MySurveyAsia and reading this… please… my contact form is up above and contact me the soonest. You do not have to offer any apologies, just get my vouchers redeemed and sent to me.

Else, my personal recommendation is that those of you who have intention to join MySurveyAsia or are in, stop whatever you are doing with them!

How’s everybody lunar new year celebration? Good? Collected many red packets as well? Do remember to do some savings for yourself – for any emergency funding and also for your retirement! The main reason for starting early is that you can let compounding interest work its magic!

A Special Shout-Out To Some Personal Friends (okay, no names will be mentioned)

I would like to thank two of my lady friends who chanced upon my humble site (I do not really do much site promotion) and reading some of the posts here. And I managed to catch the attention of both with regards to my family background (not intentional) and this led to a small talk which also let me know more about them!

In summary from both conversations: You are never alone when you are down. Even when you are down, always look at the positive side. Live happy and take things at a time and you can see solutions to any problems.

My Resolutions Update:

1. Mentally. Yeah. Managed to get down another book – Know What You Want and Get It! by Norman Monath. This is a good book that shares with you on how to make good use of any situation and any environment to help you get what you want. If you want to create luck in your life – there’s a practical way which makes quite a fair bit of sense. 28 Books to go!

2. Giving Back. Managed to bank in US$27.99 and that’s $2.80. Making a current total of $3.593. If you think that I am giving back way too little (I committed 10% of bank-in profits), there’s a piece of good news! I have just received a cheque of US$114 and once I am able to cash it in – it will be another US$11.40 to my giving back!

3. Financially. Frankly speaking, it’s another not-that-impressive month in terms of insurance sales. Could it be the Lunar New Year atmosphere? Or just me? I may want to seek your help here… If you have life insurance and a committed Financial Planner – share with me, why you decide to get an insurance plan, how he/she managed to convince you? This two piece of information will help to improve – definitely!

4. Online Entrepreneurship. Things are picking up over at my erm… 8 sites. And seems like there’s a little activities around the site which is really a good sign. Will work towards in improving!

5. Health. I must admit! My weight did not reduce and I am taking some supplements to help maintain or to help reduce my weight. I am walking up the stairs each day after work! I am serious in losing weight!

Some Entrepreneurship Lessons Learned:

>> Document Your Daily Achievements and Tasks

There’s many things to be done. What best way to remind what you have done and to let you keep track what is contributing – by documenting down! What I have done is that I used a desktop calendar and within the small boxes, items that I have specifically done. In this manner, you know what you have done. Too many empty boxes – it’s time to wake up and get things done now!

>> Clear Your Working Area And Your Laptop Desktop

Too often a time, you may get too engrossed with your work and you may end up clogging up your physical working area and having lots of files on your laptop desktop. Relax and take some time to clear off these areas. Believe me, this will help you in quite a few ways: bring in a little luck and help to keep you more relaxed.

Okay, I will be ending here for my experiences from February 2010. I believe March 2010 will be a good month for me and you as well!

Resolutions Update:

Mentally. I have managed to finish a book by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer - Excuses Begone!: How to Change Lifelong, Self-Defeating Thinking Habits to help improve on my mental attitude which I also believe many Entrepreneurs will definitely benefit from (to stop giving yourself excuses due to personal limitations). I am on my second book now. So this leave me 29 books to go!

Giving back. I have realized profit (already credited) of US$7.93 so I will be contributing $0.793 to both my Church and World Vision. As this is still a small amount, I will make the contribution once both hit $25.

Health. Weight is currently at 72kg. And I am also consuming one less coffee each day. Good way to better health!

Financially. As a Financial Planner, it seems like I am not doing well in getting people insured in the month of January. Which also means that I did not really hit my sales quota. This, which I hope, I can have a turn-around real soon. May God Bless Me!

Online Entrepreneurship. In this area, I am more organized now by having proper planning and updating. Overall my sites are maintained and updated at least twice in the month.

What I Have Learnt As An Online Entrepreneur:

>> You must have a strong and positive mindset.

I am naturally a negative person and easily affected by the opinions of others (signs of low self-esteem). End day will be that the whole day is affected. This affects my attitude towards my customers (less enthusiastic face-to-face consultation) and also towards my style of blogging (writing sub-standard blog posts). Therefore a strong and positive mindset is very much necessary. As an Entrepreneur, you have to think of solutions around your problems and not to keep bothering about the problem.

>> You must understand what you are good with.

Many people say that I am crazy to maintain over 8 sites and that more sites will be created soon. They often say “Is this worth it and making you money?” These are really food for thoughts and though I may be better off concentrating one main site – end of day, I am contented and being able to produce good enough content and to improve on the functions of most of my site. Those with one site, one niche topic are good with just… One! I am able to handle 8 sites and 8 different topics which make me with multi-talents… Eight!

>> Do not be too obsessed with the monetary side – Every Day!

Most of my sites are supported with advertising and with affiliate products – which I have the temptation to check on the sales result… Every Day! If there’s no sales, I will start questioning myself where did I go wrong. This, in turn, affected my way of doing up my sites – every bit of actions/updates MUST generate a sale. This is totally wrong! I tried to change my thinking and to continue what I am used to doing. Guess what?! Sales are back!

>> Get What Is Needed To Be Done First First!

You are not reading it wrongly. There’s two Firsts. Given a choice to just laze around than to crack your brain to create a new blog post – most will choose the first one. And when you have seriously rested enough and would like to get back to real work… Guess what, you are drained! You will be merely trying to rush through your work. End result: Substandard Work! Vicious cycle of no results shall start!

These are the lessons that I have learnt during my journey as an Online Entrepreneur in the month of January 2010. What kind of experiences will the month of February bring me? This is going to be exciting!

My Wishes To All In The Month Of February!

Happy Lunar New Year To All Who Will Be Celebrating! May this new year refreshes you and bring you better perspective in life and in your business. May your actions bring you great wealth. Also stay healthy and do exercise! Also remember to give back instead of asking for something back!

Happy Valentine’s Day! Though this is a Special Day set for us to really show our love and appreciation to your special ones, you should make everyday a day of giving thanks to someone who has made it special for you. If you like to share your thanks, I have this site for you to post your thanks!

Happy 2010 To One And All!

And specially to you for supporting this blog and following all my postings!

Also a special thanks to my colleague who spoke to me yesterday – telling me that she found my personal blog by doing a random search for “surveys” and she landed on my site. Guess that’s the amazing power you get from blogging so for those who are interested in becoming an online entrepreneur in 2010 – start blogging!

My Resolutions For 2010

I was thinking through of what I intend to do for 2010 and had nowhere to jot them down and what better way then to do so with this blog post. At least I “sort of” made a personal commitment to you by posting them here. So here goes:

Debts – to clear major part of my study and tuition loan (outstanding of around $27K), take care of my brother’s medical expenses and which I hope to clear with my current salary and from the earnings with my online activities.

Financially – I am currently working as a Financial Planner (on a fixed pay system and with a new monthly incentive scheme coming up real soon) so I would like to really make good money out from this. Time to get serious and work hard!

Online Entrepreneurship – In 2009, I created numerous sites dealing with different genre – affiliate marketing, online retailing, home-based business, web design templates, financial planning, blog aggregator. Personally all these sites are very much under-managed. I guess in 2010, I will personally make these sites grow and make a good monthly profit out of them.

Giving Back – I believe in the idea of giving back. Before I became independently on my own – surviving through university education and having my mum and brother in a nursing home – there was a lot of financial and spiritual help given by my church – Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and from 2010 onwards, I will be donating 10% of my online profits (my only condition – money has to be credited to my account) to the Church and also to a charitable organization – World Vision Singapore. All these donations will be done on a regular basis! And maybe I should do up a sidebar widget to keep track of my progress on these donations.

Physically – My current weight is at 73Kg (do not laugh) at a height of 1.68m. This is not a good sign that I am healthy. A good commitment for 2010 will be to reduce this weight to around 65kg.

Mentally – Books are good and I intend to build up my own knowledge by reading at least 30 books.

Guess I should stop at these 6 or else I will start to make up a lot of excuses why I cannot achieve at the end of 2010.

So have you personally made any resolutions and posted it somewhere? I would like to read up what you have posted (and steal a few more ideas and suggestions).

Once again! Happy 2010 to you all!
