24 Days And Counting Down… What Have You Done For Yourself?

by Dexter Damien Chan on April 6, 2010

Welcome to April 2010! 6 Days are gone and soon we will be finishing the first half of the year. So what have you done for yourself to make this year a good year?

An update to the previous post that I have made previously on the voucher issue from MySurveyAsia – apparently after the post was made, the voucher was received one week later. Hmmm… was that post read and worked on or that the people are simply taking their time to work on it? Before I can remove them from the Good Deal Gone Wrong category, I would be trying my luck to get them to send me another voucher. :P

Now to the proper update of my resolutions…

1. Managed to gun down two books related to salesHow To Mind Read Your Customers by David P. Snyder and The Four Kinds Of Sales People by Chuck Mache. The first book is about the four basic personality – D.I.S.C and should you have taken any personality test before, you will be quite clear of what the four characters are about. I am an I. How about you? Should you be interested in psychology and selling, this book is a mixed of both and you will enjoy reading it.

For the second book, the author shares about the four kind of person that does sale. True to certain extent of what it says about me and I have done cross-reference to the top sales producer in my insurance company and find them relatively accurate as well. So if you are doing sales and seemingly do not know where you are heading towards, pick up this book and know yourself well.

2. Giving Back. I have managed to cash in SGD$135 and another US$37. So using the 10% reference, I should be contributing SGD$13.50 (US$9.65) and US$3.70. So making a total of US$16.94. That’s an achievement, isn’t it?

3. Financially. The counting down has something to do with this section. I have decided to resign from my salary-based financial planning services and my next step is not decided as yet. It’s either commission-based with my present company, with a broker firm, totally out of this industry and/or going back to being a Real Estate Agent. Tough decisions to be made and I pray to God for a clear sign!

4. Online Entrepreneurship. There’s not much addition to my line of business but more of trying to improve on the current ones. I have decided that since none of my ventures are on auto-pilot as yet so it would be better for me to spend more time on each and make it better than ever. There’s no holding back now!

5. Health. Something for you to laugh about. Since I did not pass my IPPT, I am now down to my Remedial Training every Thursday and Sunday. I have done it last year – lost weight and became much more fitter. Hope to use this to achieve the same as last year.

Entrepreneurship Lesson Learned From A Story:

Just one lesson to all entrepreneurs especially those who are running party events, popcorn & candy floss machines rental and advertising via Google Adwords.

For those who do not know, Google Adwords work in the manner that you will have your advertisements in the form of Text Ads displayed in the top and right side of the Google Search Engine. And you will pay for the advertisement only when there’s a click by a visitor.

So the story is that my insurance company is intending to organize a two-day roadshow events and would like to rent a popcorn & candy floss machines and if the deal goes through, the fee is around $1,000. There are three good ads, I clicked and phoned one and got some quotes. But I would like to have a second opinion, so I phoned two other companies, called and guess what happened… the lines are diverted and re-directed many times and nobody picks up. I am even calling during office hours.

So guess who will be getting the deal. Yes, you are right – the first company which picks up the phone!

Therefore my advice to all the Entrepreneurs out there who have their contacts available, please always have someone be ready beside the contact.

For the rest of the month, have fun, improve yourself, plan well, work hard and to your success!
